Cruise Program “Luxor – Edfu – Kom Ombo – Aswan”

4 Nights / 5 Days

Day 1

Luxor (East Bank) — City of the Living

  • Karnak Temple
  • Luxor Temple

Karnak Temple

Karnak Temple is the largest temple complex in Egypt, located on the eastern bank of the Nile.
It consists of numerous temples and sacred structures built by different pharaohs over thousands of years.
Karnak stands as a monumental testimony to the golden ages of Ancient Egypt, when great rulers constructed magnificent monuments in honor of their civilization.

Luxor Temple

The temple is dedicated to the goddess Mut, wife of Amun-Ra — the sun god and king of the gods.
In front of the temple stands the magnificent obelisk of Ramses II; its twin now stands in Paris at Place de la Concorde, gifted by King Muhammad Ali.
Huge granite statues of the pharaoh seated on his throne guard the entrance.
Inside the temple, visitors can discover traces of four great civilizations: Ancient Egyptian, Greek, Christian, and Islamic.

Day 2

Luxor (West Bank) — City of the Dead

  • Valley of the Kings
  • Colossi of Memnon
  • Temple of Queen Hatshepsut
  • Sailing

Valley of the Kings

The Valley of the Kings was known as the Great Necropolis of the Pharaohs who “lived for millions of years.”
For more than 500 years, it served as the burial place of Egypt’s New Kingdom rulers.
Archaeologists discovered 62 royal tombs and around 20 unfinished burial shafts.
No two tombs are alike, reflecting the uniqueness of each pharaoh.
Famous rulers buried here include Ramses II, Ramses III, Ramses IV, Ramses V/VI, Tutankhamun, Seti I, Thutmose III, and many others.

Colossi of Memnon

These two gigantic statues of Pharaoh Amenhotep III once guarded the entrance to his enormous mortuary temple, destroyed by an earthquake in 27 BC.
Today, the statues remain as one of Luxor’s most iconic landmarks.
Their name comes from the Greek mythological hero Memnon, and ancient travelers claimed the statues produced mysterious sounds at sunrise known as the “Cry of Memnon.”

Temple of Queen Hatshepsut

The mortuary temple of Queen Hatshepsut is carved into the cliffs of El Qurna Mountain.
Hatshepsut was the only female pharaoh to rule Egypt during the New Kingdom.
The temple features a unique architectural design with three grand terraces connected by a wide central staircase leading upward toward the mountain.

Sailing

After exploring Luxor’s West Bank, the cruise begins its journey along the Nile, offering breathtaking landscapes and the magical atmosphere of ancient Egypt.

Day 3

  • Edfu Temple
  • Sailing
  • Kom Ombo Temple

Edfu Temple

Edfu Temple is the second-largest religious structure in Egypt after Karnak Temple.
It is remarkably well preserved because it remained buried beneath desert sand for centuries.
The temple is dedicated to Horus, the protector and warrior god who sought revenge for the murder of his father Osiris by Seth.
According to legend, Horus eventually defeated Seth, and the Greeks later called this place the “Place of Victory.”

Sailing

After visiting Edfu Temple, the cruise continues sailing along the majestic Nile River.
Guests can relax and admire the peaceful scenery and timeless beauty of ancient Egyptian landscapes.

Kom Ombo Temple

Kom Ombo Temple is a unique double temple dedicated to two deities at once:
Horus, the Falcon God, and Sobek, the Crocodile God.
The temple is symmetrically divided into two sections, each honoring one god.
Visitors can also see one of the world’s oldest calendars and the Nilometer, which priests used to measure the Nile’s water level and calculate taxes.

Day 4

  • Abu Simbel Temple
  • Aswan

Abu Simbel Temple

Located around 280 km south of Aswan, Abu Simbel is one of Egypt’s most breathtaking temples, carved into the cliffs of the Nubian Desert.
The monumental temple is dedicated to Ramses II, one of the greatest kings in Egyptian history.
Its walls are decorated with detailed military scenes from the Battle of Kadesh, fought during the fifth year of his reign.
Inside the temple, Ramses II is portrayed as a god — a rare representation in ancient Egyptian history.
Nearby stands the Small Temple dedicated to Queen Nefertari, the beloved wife of Ramses II.

Aswan

Upon arrival in Aswan, guests can enjoy the calm atmosphere of southern Egypt, beautiful Nile views, and the rich Nubian culture.
The city is famous for its warm hospitality, fascinating history, and stunning natural scenery.

Day 5

Aswan

  • High Dam & Friendship Monument
  • Philae Temple of Goddess Isis

High Dam & Friendship Monument

The Aswan High Dam was built to protect Egypt from the annual flooding of the Nile and regulate water levels across the country.
One of its main achievements was the creation of Lake Nasser, the largest artificial lake in the world, designed for long-term water storage.
The project was largely financed and supervised by the Soviet Union, which is why the Friendship Monument between Egypt and the USSR was built nearby.
Visiting this site reveals the enormous scale and importance of the project for modern Egypt.

Philae Temple of Goddess Isis

The Temple of Isis, goddess of love, joy, music, and motherhood, is located on the picturesque island of Philae.
Built during the Greek period by the Ptolemies, the temple is known for its peaceful atmosphere and beautiful reliefs depicting Isis with her son Horus and her husband Osiris.
The temple remains one of the most harmonious and enchanting sacred sites in Egypt.
